Gigi Nyut-Nyutan atau Bengkak, Haruskah Dicabut?

Jangan buru-buru mencabut gigi. Gigi yang sakit, bahkan yang mengalami infeksi, belum tentu harus dicabut.

Mengapa gigi bisa nyut-nyutan?

Nyeri berdenyut yang muncul spontan, makin terasa di malam hari, atau berlangsung lama setelah terkena dingin atau panas bisa menjadi tanda peradangan pulpa — jaringan berisi saraf dan pembuluh darah di dalam gigi. Penyebabnya sering gigi berlubang dalam, retakan, atau cedera.

Mengapa gusi atau pipi bisa bengkak?

Pembengkakan di sekitar gigi dapat terjadi akibat infeksi yang berkembang hingga jaringan sekitar akar. Pada sebagian kasus terbentuk abses atau kumpulan nanah. Perlu diingat: gigi yang tidak lagi terasa sakit belum tentu sembuh — sarafnya bisa mati sementara infeksinya masih berjalan.

Apakah gigi harus dicabut?

Tidak selalu. Banyak gigi dengan kerusakan pulpa atau infeksi masih bisa dipertahankan lewat Perawatan Saluran Akar (root canal treatment): membersihkan jaringan terinfeksi, mengendalikan infeksi, lalu menutup dan merestorasi gigi agar berfungsi kembali. Pencabutan menjadi pilihan hanya bila kerusakan sudah terlalu berat, dan keputusannya memerlukan pemeriksaan klinis serta radiografi bila perlu.

Harus periksa ke mana?

Periksakan diri ke dokter gigi atau Dokter Gigi Spesialis Konservasi Gigi (Sp.KG) yang berkompeten dalam diagnosis nyeri gigi, perawatan saluran akar, dan upaya mempertahankan gigi asli. Jika bengkak disertai demam, segera periksa. Bila muncul kesulitan bernapas atau menelan, atau bengkak meluas cepat, segera menuju IGD.

Pertahankan gigi asli Anda selama masih memungkinkan.

Gigi yang sakit tidak selalu harus dicabut. Pemeriksaan dan penanganan yang tepat membantu mempertahankan kesehatan, fungsi, dan kenyamanan gigi Anda.

A clinician grounded in evidence

drg. Endo Sadewa, Sp.KG is a Conservative Dentistry Specialist (Spesialis Konservasi Gigi), a cum laude graduate of the Conservative Dentistry specialist program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University. He also serves as a government (PNS) dentist in Semarang Regency and currently manages Klinik Rawat Inap Bergas Waras and Klinik Pratama Ben Waras. His academic and clinical interests center on endodontics, regenerative endodontic procedures, restorative dentistry, and the biology of the dentin–pulp complex, working at the intersection of clinical practice and evidence-based research.

Menilai respons penanda makrofag (CD68, iNOS, CD163) dan keamanan hepatorenal — mendukung potensi biomaterial lokal untuk perawatan konservasi gigi.
